THE WEB was abuzz this week more than a 12-year-old British girl who comes with an IQ that is supposedly greater than that of both Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking.
Many outlets posted stories on Nicole Barr’s super brain, including the U.K.’s Western Daily Reflection and Press, as well as Yahoo Cosmopolitan and Parents magazine. And all of them indicated she is smarter than the famed scientists.
Barr’s score of 162 puts her in the top 1 percent of the populace, Ann Clarkson, a communications supervisor for English Mensa, told Yahoo.
Einstein and Hawking are thought to have IQs of 160. Kids, like Barr, who rating higher are often compared to them and tales about children being “smarter than Einstein” pop-up with some regularity.
But there’s one problem that all the geniuses come up with can’t solve - it’s very hard, if not impossible, to state what Hawking’s or Einstein IQs are, Clarkson told The Huffington Post within an email.
“There is, as far as anyone knows, no evidence that Einstein ever took an IQ test,” Clarkson said. “I believe Hawking probably has, only if as part of his treatment for engine neurone disease, but it appears he has never made the rating public.”
Clarkson said the 160 amount is a regularly quoted “guess” that “opens up a whole different argument about the difference between IQ and genius.”
So if anyone lets you know smarter than Einstein they’re, inform them it’s a matter of relativity.
